A tremendous thank you to the wonderful audience that made it around the seven-foot snow banks to come hear us play. Greetings, all-

So much going on! I trust everyone had a blissful holiday season... I know I did. Though I was a bit put out at the loss of several of my cabana concubines (or 'cabanabines', if you will) during the building process, I'm pleased to say that I write to you now from the peace and tranquility of my own Igloo Mansion 'neath the waters of the serene Hudson River. It's a bit frosty, of course, but then true luxury does require sacrifice.

But now it's back to work, and I do take my job seriously.

For starters, I'm pleased to announce a new partnership with our friends at Think Coffee, down on Mercer. As part of the 'alice. Thinks Coffee' series, the band and I will be appearing once a month at the NYU Locale of Leisure to spread our loving Chamber Pop across your eardrum like Nutella on a warm croissant. Thanks to all who came out to the Third Annual alice. Hallowe'en Spectacular this past Saturday at the Living Room - a packed house, they tell me. I tried to make it, honestly I did, but you know, when Roger Waters calls and needs you to bail his butt out of jail (again), you don't say no - the light show alone is worth the trip.

Well of course I had that whole thing with the circus, I really do apologize for that - but please tell everyone that Mercutio (the uber-hott Ringmaster) says hello.

It was a fantastic night, and I couldn't have asked for anything better to release my second album, a.443. The crowd (that's you) was amazing, the Living Room was packed, the live sound (Mr. Eric Feigenbaum, ladies and gentlemen) was off the hook (is that what the kids are saying?), and I'm ecstatic to say that my inability to make the show in no way detracted from the rousing success of the evening.

All right- you know, I’m just going to level with you here.

This album is killin’.

Since the dawn of time, there have been only two albums that fall under the most hallowed of elastic-hybrid-chamber-pop umbrellas. Two albums, representing the very best of an adolescent genre brimming with potential and the light of future prosperity twinkling in its beady little eye. And I can tell you, unequivocally, without a shred of doubt or hesitation, that this is by far the best of them.

Such a staggering work of genius deserves a proper sendoff, and I aim to do it correctly. Join us, just six nights from now, as my constituents and I present to you our sophomore album, a.443. To my most loyal constituents:

I know exactly what you're thinking... I'd better have a decent accounting of myself after having disappeared for over two months. To just run off like that is inexcusable, and I can only apologize for leaving you for so long with no explanation.

To be honest, I didn't even realize it had been two months - I woke up in Johannesburg on January 13th with a splitting headache, and the last thing I remembered was heading toward the Living Room on the 9th and a bottle of Drambuie flying towards my face... I still haven't been able to figure out if it hit me in the head or in the mouth, but regardless, the effect seems to have been the same, and there I was four days later in South Africa , my wallet and passport back home in my other hoop skirt. How embarrassing.

Luckily, while hitchhiking my way around East Africa I ran into Rohin in Zanzibar, and I was able to stow away in one of his finger cymbal cases on the way back to the states. And here we are in mid-March already, and I've got to get cracking. I've put the lash to Seth and Kyle to get them working on the new album, and things are progressing with that. I've also decided that I shall be appearing at The Living Room once again on April 3rd, though perhaps I should be renting the Popemobile this time to get there. Maybe we can catch up there over a spot of tea and some of Seth and Kyle's new material.

I hope you can forgive my absence; I have every intention of blaming it on the Drambuie - scotch is far too sweet for me anyway.

Just a few helpful hints on getting to Cornelia Street Cafe this evening. Because of the annual Greenwich Village Halloween Parade, you should get to Cornelia Street in one of the following ways:

1) Take the 1 Train to Christopher Street, the club is a 5 minute walk to the East.

2) Take the 1, 2 or 3 trains to 14th street. A further walk, but also possible.

Please avoid taking a train to the West 4th street station- it will be very difficult if not impossible to reach the club, because of the parade. In general, avoid reaching Cornelia Street from the East side of Manhattan, come from the West side.

if alice. senses that the parade and the crowds are preventing people from arriving on time, alice. will delay the start of the show.

My Dearest Constituents:

I think it's safe to say that the gang and I are on quite a high after what proved to be a most successful outing at NYU's own Think Coffee, a charming lower-east side nook with students and space to spare. Contrary to what you may have heard, I did in fact make it to the venue; I simply was a bit earlier (read: four hours) than usual. Well, after sampling both their delightful selection of coffees (two of each), and their seductive selection of wines by the glass (only one of each, of course), I found myself with a mysterious desire to (a) hug everyone I saw on the street, (b) convince them of the fact that Harrison Bergeron is, in fact, a complex metaphorical re-telling of the Trojan War, and (c) lie down immediately. I woke up the following Tuesday in Bangladesh. Again.

My humblest apologies, of course. I hear the gang performed swimmingly.

But let me make it up to you. I'd like for you all to save me this coming October 31st, as I attempt to right not only the wrongs I've done you, but indeed, all wrongs everywhere. Ever. Join me, as I present to you:

That's right, my beloved friends, this coming Hallow'een night, I will present to you an experience like no other, with all new music, full-contact storytelling, and maybe even some special guests, perhaps Lon Cheney (not likely) or some close friends of the band (much more likely). With the help of my incredible band, I will bring you a spectacle the likes of which even alice. fans have not yet seen. There will be horror. There will be dancing. And try as I might, we'll probably still have to use the accordion.

Though I usually pride myself on my punctuality, I have to say that I’m fairly ashamed to have been running late this past Friday evening and missed my own most dramatic performance ever. Despite what I hear was a strong first set from Seth and the gang, apparently our magnanimous hosts at the Yippie Café managed to confirm two acts for the 10pm set, thus royally sabotaging our vibe and preventing yours truly from making it after all.

Mistakes, of course, will happen, though I have to say I’ve never encountered this at any point before in my professional career. The club can of course be forgiven; they were no doubt a bit more focused on the recent incarceration of one of their longtime patriarchs and owners on money laundering charges (here if you’re curious), and a bit less focused on their event scheduling. And no fault can be attributed to the other (nameless) artist of course, though Kyle did mention that he’d never before seen anyone over the age of twelve who was capable of putting on such an aggressive and unprofessional display of whining. Alas, I’ll just chalk it up to strange vibes in the streets from the partial eclipse of the sun in our hemisphere (though not quite visible from here in New York - here). Many thanks to all who came out to support, and I’m so sorry that I wasn’t able to make it in time to lay down the law – can’t wait to see you all next time under more reliable circumstances.

this past Friday night, my troupe of trouble-touting troubadours took tBoston tby tstorm..... oh well I was close, wasn't i? Anyways, we played to a packed house, at a beautiful art gallery in Cambridge called The Lily Pad. Had there truly been lilies there, Seth may have died from an acute allergic reaction, so he was pleased to walk through the doors that evening, to find that it was not full of lilies at all, but rather some gorgeous paintings and photographs; it was agreed that these only increased the good vibes in the room while people were listening. Always a beautiful thing when two art forms work hand in hand.
it was a lovely evening of music, and it was an even lovelyer evening because of the wonderful, enthusiastic crowd of people that attended; they laughed and cheered at all the right moments, and even at all the wrong moments too, but then, is there ever a wrong time to show someone that you love them? so actually, yes, they did in fact laugh and cheer at all the right moments, and alice. loves them back. big time. thanks so much to all whom attended that evening, I do hope to be back in the Boston area, but seeing as how I'm not welcome in Northampton, (i did some time back in the 80's; i insisted on asking for mint chocolate chip with 'sprinkles' instead of 'jimmies') i do have to be careful how I tread around your beautiful state...

I can't tell you how excited I am about this release, my first in quite some time (and of course the first since my rather awkward 'yodel-jazz' phase). Entitled elastic.hybrid.chamber.pop., the album is only available in digital form through the website. The website, as you can see, is also live, though we'll be touching it up in the coming weeks with the final details.
